I was there

Updated August 16, 2020

ENG “I WAS THERE” How many times has it crossed our mind in these days: "Why this scourge that is bringing humanity to its knees?". It is not easy, it is not easy to give answers. "We believed in love," we sang and shouted forcefully all over the world. Because we believe that every event, even the most painful, has a reason for love. "I was there!": In that dying infected person, in that child distorted in the rubble, in that human line without a homeland, in that prisoner, in that junkie: "I was there!". This song wants to express our solidarity and closeness to the families of coronavirus and all calamity victims, and an INFINITE THANKS to those who are giving their lives for those who suffer: doctors, nurses, unnamed volunteers, centers for assistance, recovery of drug addicts, of single mothers, such as the "Fazenda de Esperanza" for which we originally composed this song: "I was there". We of Gen Rosso are with all of you hidden heroes of our time.

“Io ero lì!”: in quel contagiato moribondo, in quel bambino stravolto fra le macerie, in quella colonna umana senza patria, in quel carcerato, in quel drogato: “Io ero lì!”.
